Perugia is truly a sophisticated city and is the capital of the Umbrian region in Italy. One of the places that the city is proud of is the National Archeology Museum of Umbria or Museo Archeologico Nazionale dell’Umbria. The museum’s collection is comprised of Aeneolithic and Palaeolithic artifacts from the Umbria area, African antiquities and others. Another esteemed art gallery in this city is the National Gallery of Umbria or Galleria Nazionale Dell’Umbria. This was established in 1863 and a considerable portion of the collection in this particular gallery was collected during the French occupation. The most renowned art works include Arnolfo di Cambio’s five statues that date back up to 1281, Meo di Guido da Siena’s the Polyptych of Montelabate and Duccio Boninsegna’s Madonna with Child. One of the city’s well-loved churches is the Church of San Pietro. The trademark of this church is its astonishing wooden roof. Both the interior and exterior of the church are astounding, with displays that are comprised of several paintings, frescoes and its main altar, made up of precious stones and marble, holds Saint Pietro’s body.
