Genova or „Genoa” in Italian lies on the northwest shores of Italy and it is the country’s main seaport. One of the jewels of the city is The San Lorenzo Cathedral. It dates back to the thirteenth century and its interesting facade, made of white and black striped marble is a crowd-pleaser. Genova also has a charming aquarium named The Acquario di Genova. It was created for the EXPO 92 and is considered the second-biggest aquarium in the whole of Europe, measuring 10,000 square meters. It has seventy one display tanks to accommodate the various marine species. The Church of Gesù is another place that art enthusiasts would love. It dates back to the 1500s and it contains incredible works of art. You would see magnificent sculptures and two altar pieces, one done by Guido Reni and other being created by Rubens. Another tourist spot in this city is La Lanterna. It is the city’s ancient lighthouse and its symbol. This structure was created in 1543.
